I stayed with my boyfriend for 2 days at the Herrington and even though I’m from Illinois, I had never been. What a mistake on my part. We enjoyed our quaint room with lovely view of Fox River and gas fireplace. Loved the heated floors in the bathroom, leaves you wanting them at home! Cookies and Milk were very good too. We will return again. Staff attentive and kind. Breakfast at Atwater huge portion and very good. Lots of places to visit…
Awesome facility, great rooms. Loved balcony and room view. Comfortable bath robes. Milk and cookies nice touch when they turn down your room for night. Bed very comfortable Staff friendly and helpful. Nice continental breakfast. Check out at noon very nice.
The Herrington Inn is on my “Go To Bucket list” forever. Can’t wait to visit again. An old factory (sorry can’t remember what it was back in the day) that was ripe for destruction but saved. I think it was brought back to life about 25 yrs. ago. Those who purchased the building have created a most lovely Inn with beautiful rooms and and added a very accommodating staff. Right on the Fox River; fantastic shopping, local wine tasting rooms throughout the town; local artists and artisans offering very fine and fun wares and handmade fine jewelry (just to mention a fraction of the treasures to see).
My wife and I stayed here for one night for a wedding. Everyone here was super nice and super accommodating. We arrived around 1 PM and our room wasn’t ready but they upgraded us to a river front room at no charge. Again, how nice is that? The weather was perfect for the wedding. The ceremony was outside. Beautiful setting. We had a light lunch at the restaurant and the food was the delicious. We also had breakfast there the next morning and again it was great. There’s a bunch of shops and bars that are within walking distance. And there’s a park across the river. We will come back and stay here again.
If you want a romantic weekend — book a room with a balcony that overlooks the Fox River.
Dinner at their restaurant “Atwaters”, where we enjoyed an excellent dinner the price was a little high but was worth the price. When you retire to your room for the evening your bed will be turned down and their will be two small milk bottles of milk (on ice) and chocolate chip cookies for your enjoyment. There will slippers and robes for your use and you can turn on your gas fired fireplace. Our room had a canopied four poster bed.
The town of Geneva offers some nice shopping and other food options.
If you are looking for a romantic getaway for you and your sweetheart or a girls weekend this place is perfect. It is right on the Fox River in adorable downtown Geneva. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is very, very attentive, and the location is ideal(you are in a suburb about 1 hour from Chicago by car or train and the train is within walking distance) but you get that old small town feel. This hotel would be great anytime of year with great balconies with French doors if it is warm enough and cozy fireplaces for cooler times. The bathrooms are well appointed and updated (the jacuzzi tub filled and drained quickly (and can fit 2 comfortably). You are treated to cookies and milk at turn down and if you mention your special occasion you get a card and a treat (we had chocolate dipped strawberries). There is a well stocked mini bar and sweets for purchase. We had a comfy 4 poster king bed, huge tv, and plenty of floor space. There are multiple stores (really good shopping!) and restaurants but we opted to try the hotel restaurant and it was fabulous. Everything was honestly delicious. There was outdoor seating or a great dining room with a river view that had a lovely fireplace. The lobby is gorgeous and has a lovely winding staircase for pictures. In the morning you can help yourself to a yummy continental breakfast before you check out at…12. Yes, 12, so take your time waking up. We did not use the spa or room service but we have friends who used both and loved them (ps you can have a massage in your room!). I can’t say enough about this hotel and restaurant we will definitely go back. AWESOME!!!
Lovely hotel! Particularly like the cozy chair in the perfect size next to the fireplace! Lovely facility, professional staff, wonderful accommodations! The views of the river are gorgeous and the spa tub is huge!
We spent 3 nights at the Herrington when in town for a wedding that was on property. The accommodations were very nice. Our room had a fireplace, a spacious bathroom, and we had views of the courtyard and river. Each night milk and cookies were delivered and it was such a nice touch. The staff could not have been more accommodating with the million requests the bridal party made while getting ready on wedding day. They truly had service with a smile. The drinks in the lounge were good and Sunday brunch was delicious. Be sure to make reservations in advance!
Recently spent a day at the Herrington to celebrate my wifes Birthday. What a wonderful find. This is a quiet romantic place on the Fox River in Geneva ,Illinois. We checked in at three P.M. which is an hour before official check in time and was told our room was ready, I had nothing to loose so I asked if we could get any type of complementary upgrade and the Hostess said sure, and upgraded us to a Creamery suite. What a nice way to start a stay. The room was really nice, well appointed with a four poster King size Canopy Bed, flat screen T.V., three easy chairs, mini bar, and a balcony with a table and two chairs overlooking the Fox River. The bathroom was almost a religious experience. I’m sure there are some people that would be able to spend a whole day in there. A huge mirror on the back wall with a separate large stand in shower, and large Jacuzzi Bath tub, and across from that was a nice marble vanity with Toilet and Bidet , and even a small stool so my wife could sit and put her makeup on for an hour or two. We really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go back.
We organized a surprise party for my Mom, where her two Granddaughters and eight family members from out of town met at the Herrington unbeknownst to my Mom. We let the staff in on the surprise, and they played their part perfectly. As the weekend went on we got to know much of the staff on a first name basis, they were wonderful, playful, generous, and became part of the gathering celebration themselves. The reception desk staff was very accommodating, patient and cheerful. The restaurant and lobby staff and room attendants all were gracious, courteous and very helpful. The lobby has a very nice lounge and cozy seating area that both flowed nicely and allowed for privacy. The rooms are impeccable with beautiful balcony views throughout. The bathroom was awesome with tile shower, generous size tubs and sitting area. The beds soft and cozy, fireplace, artwork, furnishing all first class. The courtyard was like a European villa, with limestone walls and the updated restaurant blended in perfectly.
The breakfast was much like want we experienced through Tuscany, with fine meats, cheeses fruits, juices, eggs, breads, and as always with super attentive service.
The town of Geneva was quaint with very friendly and accommodating stores and restaurants, but I would go back just to stay in hotel, and enjoy the beauty of the hotel and the welcoming staff.
We were at the Inn for a wedding. We made our reservation early and had a beautiful room that looked over the lovely court way. When we sat outside our room we had a view of the river. The room was very nice with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was great. The spa tub and separate shower was nicely updated. The lighting in the room was a bit dark when the sun went down but this didn’t take away from the experience. The wedding was held in the beautifully landscaped court way. I cannot think of a way to improve this at all!
The staff was extremely nice and always helpful. The continental breakfast was ample and the coffee was excellent. I was able to jog the path across the river which was perfect. I love when I can attend an event, have a nice room, and still have an inviting place for a workout.
This place is truly magical. The staff if 5 Stars all around and make you feel like family. My wife and I had our wedding here in September and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The food was 5 stars, the accommodations were 5 stars, the cleanliness was 5 stars and the view/location was 5 stars. If you are thinking of visiting or having your wedding/event at the Herrington, just do it. You will never regret it. Deanne, and the Herrington wedding staff, out did any expectation we could ever imagine. On the night of our wedding, my wife’s grandfather got very sick and was no longer able to attend the reception, without a question, the Herrington delivered the entire wedding meal to him in his room. My wife and I were able to see him for a few minutes during dinner as well while Deanne and the staff made sure our guest were taken care of. No one even knew we stepped out for a few minutes. The cocktail reception on the river front was amazing. We had live music, passed appetizers and the drinks were flowing. Every single one of our guest, could not believe my wife and I were able to pull off a weekend as beautiful as this. The truth is, we couldn’t have without the help of the Herrington. The morning after the wedding, I was able to go to the lobby, and grab a tray of morning goodies, and have breakfast in bed with my wife. They have secured our business for any major event we will have in the area. Please, go visit them. You will have the time of your life and memories to last forever.
Our company generally hosts a few off-site executive staff meetings each year — usually in downtown Chicago. Our team raved about The Herrington; its old world atmosphere, being on the Fox River. We received the same high level of service provided by downtown hotels at 1/3 the cost. This was a refreshing change. We will definitely be back.
If you are thinking of booking your wedding or are looking for the perfect place — The Herrington Inn & Spa is it! Look no further! Of course it helped that we had the perfect weather on 6/14/14, however, the entire wedding planning experience was stress-free thanks to The Herrington Inn staff. Special thanks to Deanne, Cyndi and all other staff — you all made our experience so memorable. We were moving from CA to TX the week before our wedding and because The Herrington was so wonderful, our experience was virtually stress-free. From the time we initially looked at the venue to 2 days after our wedding, and some visits in between, The Herrington Inn & Spa went above and beyond — never disappointing (did I say milk and cookies are brought to the room fresh, daily?!). Thank you for making our wedding day perfect!
